Artist’s 30 Skeleton Comics About Loss, Mental Health And Cure
Letting go is indeed next to the impossible, but it’s possible.
There are numerous uplifting things in life, but then there’s also loss and letting go. Losing a dear one can trigger grief and even intense feelings, and for a few individuals, grieving can result in depression. It’s challenging to cope with someone’s loss as its mental effect can also be for a lifetime. And while loss is generally associated with a loved one’s death, it can also be caused by losing a job, health crisis, and miscarriage. But the question remains: How do you handle loss? Artist Stormy Gail found the perfect antidote to overcome her grief through the illustration of Sad Skeleton Comics.
Launched in 2018, Stormy’s illustrations were a result of her mother’s critical health condition. Her mom had been hospitalized for Stage 4 Cancer, and while in Coma for about two months, Stormy, whose real name is Rebecca, started working digitally on an iPad. Interestingly, her four-panel series doesn’t have a set name at the moment, but so far, they’ve been a journal to both her grief and therapy. People have different means of battling with loss, and so, you can key into Stormy’s illustration for some relief.

Whatever your loss, it’s personal; hence don’t be ashamed about how you feel as it’s only appropriate to grieve over specific things. Whatever is the cause of your grief, there are indeed healthier ways to cope with the pain, including finding new meaning and moving on. Being depressed drains energy, drive, and it can even make it challenging to take a step towards building oneself.
