Rolls-Royce Unveiled Its Zero Emission Jet That Is Set To Take Flight In 2020

Rolls-Royce is the first who made it – a plane that does not run on fuel at all and can be seated by at least one person. Yes, their latest unveiling may just earn them climate change advocate Greta Thunberg’s nod as it runs completely on electricity.

Taking off in the Spring of 2020 is Rolls-Royce one-man white and blue mechanical bird.

This bird is powered with a battery that can last 200 miles per charge and is equipped with three high power density axial electric motors. This propeller does have lower RPM, but it also means it spins quieter and gives a more stable ride.

The electric bird is part of the Rolls-Royce ACCEL project, which stands for ‘Accelerating the Electrification of Flight’. It is Rolls-Royce’s effort in part to champion electrification.

There have also been growing concerns on carbon footprints left that travelers on flights. Aviation experts predict that it will still take decades for the high-capacity commercial airplanes to be made available. This is, but one, a big step towards that future.

Currently, they are still aiming to get the ACCEL bird to reach 300mph speed, making it the fastest all-electric bird ever made.
