Johnny Might WAIVE $8 Million Damages Claim Against Amber Heard
They slam Heard’s claims the trial was unfair.
Johnny Depp’s lawyers, Camille Vasquez and Benjamin Chew appeared on shows, including Good Morning America, TODAY, and the Law and Crime Network, where they aired their perspectives on the concluded defamation trial. Firstly, they shared how Depp was to have won and that he hadn’t smiled like he’s now in six years when his problems with Heard started.
With his reputation restored, the attorneys suggested the actor might waive the $8milion judgment Amber was ordered to pay him, especially as her attorneys have said she can’t afford it and has plans to file an appeal.

“This is never about money for Mr. Depp. This was about restoring his reputation, and he’s done that. We have to be careful what we say, but this was about Mr. Depp’s reputation, but that was what it was about for him,” Depp’s attorney said. Lawyer Chew added that it had much to do with accountability and that Depp owned his issues yet was candid about his alcohol and drug issues.
“He was candid about some unfortunate texts he wrote and I think it was a sharp contrast to Ms. Heard, who didn’t seem or at least the jury may have perceived that she didn’t take accountability for anything.”

Chew insisted there was a real contrast and that Johnny took ownership of many things while Heard had an answer for everything yet wasn’t taking accountability for anything. Camille continued: “The key to victory was focusing on the facts and the evidence and Johnny’s opportunity to speak the truth for the first time. He was able to connect with the jury and the general public and tell what really happened.”
A few days back, Heard’s attorneys released a statement slamming Depp’s team’s victory since the trial wrapped.

The Aquaman star herself said Depp’s legal team is collectively setting back women’s rights.

In response, Depp’s attorneys revealed that wasn’t the case and that the facts spoke for themselves. They slammed Heard’s claim that she lost the trial because Depp is more powerful and known than she is, insisting it’s false that social media played a part and claiming the jury didn’t like her because she unliked Johnny. They stated: “It’s disappointing. We’re only speaking about what happened in this case and the facts, in this case, were overwhelmingly positive for Johnny.”
Camille, on TODAY, told Savannah Guthrie: “The verdict speaks for itself. I mean, frankly, we’re here to talk about the case that we tried.”

She added: “We encourage all victims to come forward, have their day in court, which is exactly what happened in this case. Domestic violence doesn’t have a gender.” The attorneys further insisted that social media, where Johnny was the clear favorite, played no role in the verdict. Chew said: “My view is that social media played no role whatsoever; this was a decision made by the jury on the evidence. It was overwhelmingly in Depp’s favor. Johnny, they said, is over the moon and now feels like the weight of the world has been lifted from his shoulders.”

Of her new promotion, Camille said she hoped her newfound fame would inspire girls to stay in school to pursue legal careers.
“It’s been overwhelming and surreal but [if] I can encourage young women to stay in school and maybe inspire them to pursue a legal career, then it’s all worth it,” Camille stated. However, Heard’s attorney Elaine Bredehoft had claimed there was a mountain of evidence that would have supported their case that didn’t make it into the courtroom. “It was horrible. It was really, really lop sided. It’s like the Roman Coliseum, how they viewed this whole,” she told TODAY.
On the other hand, Johnny has since taken to TikTok to thank fans for their support through the trial.
