Woman Shares She And Her Husband Of 14 Years Sleep In Separate Bedrooms And Why It’s Perfect For Them
“I don’t think that makes us an odd couple. I guess that makes us secure and happy.”
A Utah couple has gone viral when TikTok found out that they’ve been sleeping separately for 14 years. They are Chrissy and Tom Clark, who have been married for 16 years!
Chrissy was stitching a video that asks people to “normalize couples sleeping separately” and showed her husband’s room.
As well as her own room down the hall!
She put a short explanation on the video that reads, “We have been married for almost 14 years! We both need our beauty sleep.”
Some people were unable to comprehend why you wouldn’t want your partner in bed next to you!
But there are actually a lot more couples who do this than you think. Some of them share how they spend quality time up and simply separate when it’s time to sleep.
Chrissy shares that they first slept separately when Chrissy was having a coughing fit that kept them both awake. But even after she’s recovered, the couple kept the same sleeping arrangement as it’s been working better than they expected.
They were also different when it came to sleeping behaviors. Chrissy shared, “I need a dark room, and my husband sleeps better with natural light. I sleep better on a firm bed, and he loves the pillow top. We had tried several mattresses over the years and could never find one we both loved. Not to mention his snoring and taking all the covers.”
Couples who could relate to Chrissy’s sleeping arrangement share similar issues that led to them sleeping separately as well.
At the age of 47, with 14 years of sleeping separately in a happy marriage, Chrissy confidently says, “Sleeping in separate beds does not equate to a bad marriage. If anything, it improves it for us.”
She emphasizes how they can have “quality time awake” and “quality sleep” at night. The conclusion was clear for her, “I don’t think that makes us an odd couple. I guess that makes us secure and happy.”
If you can have quality time together AND quality sleep at night, this could be the solution for some couples!
