Lion Frightened Photographer With Loud Roar, Then Smiled At Him
‘I’m the king of the Jungle!’
A Photographer, Gren Sowerby got the surprise of his life while taking the photo of a lion in Kenya on a safari. Instead of attacking Sowerby, the lion appeared to wink at the shocked photographer.
Sowerby, 69 from England revealed he was on a safari in Maasai, Kenya in September when he planned on taking the picture of the apex predator before hearing a loud roar.
The photographer, who spoke of his experience to SWNS, said: ‘I leaned in to take a photo when he let out a loud roar. I got the shock of my life. He gave the loud roar to say ‘I’m the king of the Jungle and then I couldn’t believe it when the lion smiled at me like when someone winks at you saying ‘Haha!’
Also revealing he was like 10 to 15 meters away from the lion, Sowerby added that the lion who was with a lioness had a kill in the bushes and probably roar out to say he was full.
Currently staying in Whitley Bay, Northumberland, Sowerby said he was taken aback by the size of the lion, but was really excited to have at least took some snapshots.
‘The king of the jungle is always something you’ve to capture, so I am so pleased I got the photos. I often go on these safaris and I really enjoy photographing wildlife. They’re grown up around the safari so they are quite used to tourists and cars’ Sowerby added.
