People that we believe would never hurt us are our family members. But with that trust, they become people whose words can stab right through our hearts. Emily Van Duyne, who works as an assistant professor at Stockton University, asked Twitter if they remember cruel things their parent(s) have told them before.
Evidently, many people can’t forget those things even if more than decades have gone through. It’s not rocket science anymore for most of us to understand that the first few years define a lot about our personalities and insecurities during our childhood.
Whether they meant it or not, it didn’t matter – what’s said was said. You can’t take memories back. All they do is remind others to be mindful of the things they say in the future.
