Dad Asks If He’s Gone Too Far For Snapping At Sister Who Calls His Son-Dad Relationship ‘Perverted’

To hug your parent is… ‘creepy’?

Flash news people: it’s ‘creepy and perverted’ to give your teenage kids a lovely hug before they leave. We definitely have never heard how parents should never be physical with their children above a certain age. Of course, every parent has a different parenting style. Some prefer a free-range approach, while others are more towards a helicopter style.

Whichever it is, as long as the children know that they are being loved and cared for, you’re definitely heading the right way. A single dad Reddit user also believes so as he rants how his sister decided to judge how he parents.

A 32-year-old single dad asks if he’s gone too far snapping at his sister who called his son-dad relationship ‘creepy and perverted.’

Reddit user illbreakuo lives with his 16-year-old son and 42-year-old sister. For financial reasons, they’ve been living together with her 15-year-old daughter. But they have the complete opposite relationship to the dad and his son – his sister doesn’t talk much to her daughter who prefers to stay holed up in her room.

He later confirms that his sister is homophobic, strengthening people’s opinions that she was a jerk.

Children and parents enjoy direct benefits from hugging. A study by scientists of Toho University in Tokyo shows that infants older than four months have increased heart rate when hugged by parents than female strangers. The same was also observed in parents. First authors Sachine Yoshida commented, “We found that both infants and parents come to relax by hugging.”

“Your baby loves to be hugged and loves how you hug your baby,” she added. “Even though infants cannot speak, they recognize their parents through various parenting methods, including hugging, after four months old at the latest.”

“Parental touch is both safe and irreplaceable,” pediatrician Dr. Hylton I. Lightman explains. “If teenagers don’t get the parental touch, they may go looking for love in all the wrong places.”

She added, “Part of parenting is understanding that when our children are little, we need to be physically connected to them as much as possible. When they get older, it’s not that we parents physically disconnect from them. Rather, it’s about finding new, creative ways of connecting with them.”

People don’t think her words have weight.
