But then, a first date is often anticipated for – many dates have come out successful as the parties involved hit off, flowed smoothly, shared a few laughs, and even scheduled a second date. Who should pay for the first date? The man or the woman has continually sparked a spirited conversation across the globe. People have overtime reiterated it’s the man. Some people aren’t biased as they’ve admitted that either the man or the woman can foot the bills. Here, a single radio producer has chosen her side of the debate, explaining why men should always and forever foot the bill on the 1st date.

The Sydney-based Jana Hocking claims one of the biggest deal-breakers for many women is their date not picking up the tab, adding that if a charming man goes tight on paying the bill, it’s an instant turn off. ‘So let’s end this debate once and for all and say, blokes, pay for the first date. It’s hot, it’s manly and will have us bragging to our friends.’ 36-Year-Old Jana said.  

The radio producer insists the one time that’s acceptable to split the bill is when one is sure there’s no interest in a second date. ‘I have been on dates when I’ve known early that the guy wasn’t for me and insisted on paying half because I couldn’t live with the guilt of walking away knowing he had just splurged on a big bill for nothing.’ Jana added. 

According to Jana, a first date doesn’t have to be fancy, and backing up her mentioned above utterance; she referenced Helen Fisher, who had claimed a woman would be interested in knowing if a man will spend his resources on her or not. Helen is a biological anthropologist and senior research fellow at the Kinsey Institute at Indiana University Bloomington.

Helen had added, saying women for millions of years need a partner to provide for them; hence they keep looking for that signal. Nevertheless, in November, the radio producer had made an embarrassing confession, admitting she secretly enjoys getting wolf-whistled at and being objectified.
