30 People From Ukraine Share The Sheer Horror Of Being There
We pray for their safety right now.
It is truly unbelievable to think about what had just transpired in Ukraine. The attacks and bombings continued as countless lives were lost in the warzone for reasons that are not even worth mentioning. On February 24, 2022, at 4 am (EET), Russia began its attacks on Ukraine
It feels horrifyingly like the wake of World War III and while it might be quiet in our own homes, millions were woken up by the sound of sirens and explosions. Ukrainians share what it has been like for the past day on the internet and this needs to stop.

Probably my last post, from Ukraine.
Well, I guess this is it then. Sirens are wailing all over Lviv. I couldn’t run away from my problems no matter how hard I tried. All those years of suffering and depression – lived through them only to get the worst hand dealt ever.
And yet – I don’t want to escape. Fuck that. I was a coward my whole life – but now it gets personal. For today, I’m wasting myself with my friend with as much alcohol as possible. To forget what’s happening for at least one more day. Then, like I said in my previous post on this subreddit, I’m joining the army.
If I ever return back to Reddit – it’s either as a hero or as a spineless coward. Goodbye, everyone.

Right now in Odesa, Ukraine.
I’m sitting here with my wife, waiting for full scale war to begin. We have no means to leave country and no where to go when s**t hits the fan. And from this perspective every previous problems in my life now feel so… meaningless, it’s 2022 in Europe, but here it’s 31st of August 1939 here in Ukraine.
I’m not scared even anymore, I’m just tired of this waiting.
God help our soldiers, and curse those fashists.
Edit. Its 6:26. We are packed. Kid is sleeping. On early morning, we woke from 2 explosions. War has started.
We are preparing to evacuate. We are being striken by missiles.

Dear sisters. I live in Ukraine, the city of Odessa,
Dear sisters. I live in Ukraine, the city of Odessa. A few hours ago I was engaged in creativity, and did not think about the bad. But for more than an hour, our entire city has been hearing rocket explosions. We do not know what it is, but apparently it is the beginning of the war. Explosions are heard in all major cities. I’m really scared. I can’t leave the house leaving 5 of my cats here. Please, pray for Ukraine

Now in Kyiv, Ukraine.
Guys I don’t know what to do, it’s so scary to be here. I woke up at 7 am because of the sirens wailing. My parents are sitting in the kitchen and discussing what to do and where to go. People are running towards the roads to the west, it’s panic all over the city.
Tbh I’m scared no less than these people. Me and my family don’t have any place to go. Guys I really don’t know what to do. The TV says that 5 cities are attacked at the same time, so we’ve got nowhere to go. It’s just a matter of like 10-12 hours till they bomb the airports. Guys I’m very scared.
Edit: there are some news that they’re already bombing the airports. Not sure if it’s true yet, but it’s frightening asf.
Edit 2: to all of the people who are saying about my dad and his work rn: he works in the military manufacturing, he must be there because there is a very high chance that the government will oblige them to supply the front with their production for free. That’s why he has to be there immediately. In fact a part of the situation depends on his company and him, he is a vice president.

Kharkiv right now, Ukraine.
Hello reddit, I am writing to you from a beautiful city on the border with the rf – Kharkiv. From six in the morning, explosions are heard along the entire border, “Smerch” artillery shells fly into the city. One of these fell near the building of the Faculty of Physics and Technology of the National University named after V.N. Karazin, where I study.
Russians, what are you doing? No one in Ukraine needs a war, we are free people and we don’t need to be liberated. V.V.P… Get your hands off an independent country

Hi from Ukraine.
Woke up hearing sirens today, can’t belive it’s happening. Much luck that firstly we’re away from boarders and it was just a provacation, but who knows what’s going next. Putin is outcast in civilized world, and he may do something dumb soon. I hope everything is going to be okay and we won’t be forced to run.
Update: We did it, we crossed the boarder, just hour ago, we had to wait more than 24 hours in our car, and after all, we’re traveling through north Romania and I even had to answer some questions to journalists: why do we leave, what do I think, what do we do now and etc… I answered all questions, cuz others (mother and sister) don’t speak English well. We’re planning to stay somewhere, to drink some tea in cafe or smth like that.
