Woman Upset Over Changed Announcement Voice Had Her Lovely Story Went Viral
It was the only thing that healed her soul.
Dr. Margaret McCollum is a name that you will remember for a while. The general practitioner was married to Oswald Laurence after meeting and falling in love with him in 1992 during her tour to Morocco. Oswald left the acting world and switched job to a tour and cruise company.
They got married and moves to North London, living there until Oswald’s death in 2007. The devastating loss has made her clutching on to one thing that was still running then – his announcement voice on the northbound Northern Line that says ‘Mind the gap’.
But the stations were phasing out the use until she could only hear his voice on the Embankment station. It was also the station she uses to travel to work a lot.
But one day, it was gone, her only rope to hold on whenever her heart hurts from missing him.
This is her story that has went viral on Twitter.
Here is a picture of them two together.
This touching story was confirmed by Nigel Holness, former director of London Underground. A widow approached the staff to ask for a copy of the announcement Oswald Laurence made more than 40 years ago. And because of her story, everyone worked hard to find it back.
