Woman Started Trading Project With A Bobby Pin Until She Gets A House
From a pin… to a vacuum cleaner… to a car?!
A woman named Demi Skipper from San Francisco started a project back in May to show-off her trading skills. Since we’re in quarantine, she’s using her extra free time to put her persuasion and trading skills to the test. She started with one, single bobby pin.

Demi started an Instagram page as well as Tiktok account to keep track of this.
For anyone who thinks this is a very ambitious project, well, a man named Kyle MacDonald traded a red paperclip back in 2005 and 14 trades later, got himself a two-story farmhouse. Demi’s reached her 16th trade as of this week.
First trade got her a pair of earrings.
Second trade got her 4 margarita glasses.
Demi runs a rental business for wedding dress and works for a restaurant reservation app as well. She is also a natural born hustler and is definitely pushing her negotiation skills to the test. Demi explains that what runs behind a one-minute TikTok video is a lot of preparations and research to find the right person and object that will help her leverage her next transaction.
In one of her videos, Demi said, “If you think I am crazy, in 2006, someone traded a red paperclip up until they got a house, so let’s do it.”
Her confidence also shows as for her, it’s not about whether she can get a house, but when. Speaking to GMA, “I am in go-mode until I get the house.”

In fact, the history of bartering tricks/challenge has existed even in legends, like the “Straw Millionaire” story from Japan about a man who started with a straw and ends up rich.
