Woman Slammed As A ‘Gold Digger’ For Marrying A Man 40 Years Older Than Her
They first dated when she was just 16.
A nursing student from Brazil found it bizarre that trolls were insulting her so hard when she revealed that she was getting married to a man 40 years her senior. Maria Eduardo Dias shared that she began her relationship with the father of her daughter at the age of 16.
The man in question was DJ Nixon Motta, a 63-year-old who works as a radio DJ. He was 57 when he first dated the teenager.
The couple first met in 2016 when Motta was working as a photographer and teen Dias messaged him on Facebook, asking for the pictures of the singers he just took for a fan club she ran. They became friends and started going out to the movies and for meals together. Dias described that she felt “love” for the man and dreamed of kissing him.
But there was “prejudice” from their family and friends who disapproved the relationship. Yet, she stuck around even when he was diagnosed with bowel cancer in 2018.
She feels very happy about her family and decided to share news of her marriage to her husband on TikTok, but she was surprised that the reception was negative. She couldn’t understand the “disrespect” towards her “beautiful and blessed” family. The mom-of-one spoke with a local news outlet, Paraiba, “I even imagined it would go viral, but in a positive way. With people thinking: “look what a beautiful love story…”, but that’s not what happened.”
She followed up with a video, “It’s easy to judge when you don’t know the story. We are very happy and accomplished, and built a beautiful and blessed family. Nobody has the right to disrespect us. Long live love! Love each other! Stop instilling hatred and evil for free people.”
She’s also attributed the man as the reason her depression has gotten better and she never needed her medication anymore.
Her husband continued, “Long live our love! Love you my princess. None of this will bother us. We faced much worse things together, and you were always with me helping me overcome and giving me strength to win!”
Motta also spoke with Paraiba, “I’m not rich. A lot of people are saying I probably am and [Ms Dias] wants financial stability. There was never any interest on her part.”
The couple has continued to set their personal accounts private.
She’s since deleted her wedding video which had over 10 million views and flooded with negative criticisms.
