Woman Shelters 97 Dogs In Her Home During Hurricane
What a selfless act!
An animal lover who is a Bahamas resident has sheltered about 100 stray and abandoned dogs in her home as the Hurricane Dorian strikes.
Chella Philips, the manager of the Voiceless Dog of Nassau in Bahamas gave shelter to 97 dogs in New Providence. Seen in a viral Facebook post, the woman posted several photos and information concerning the dogs as Hurricane Dorain slams into the island.
Chella Philips took in 97 stray dogs into her home in Nassau, New Providence, to protect them from Hurricane Dorian
‘It has been quite insane since a night before, poop and pisses non-stop, but at least they are really respecting my bed as none of them dare jump in.’
Philips is the manager of The Voiceless Dogs of Nassau, a refuge that has cared for almost 1,000 homeless dogs on the island
“A total of 97 dogs are inside my house and 79 are in my master bedroom. It has been quite insane since a night before, poop and pisses non-stop, but at least they are really respecting my bed as none of them dare jump in,” Chella wrote.
Her organization – The Voiceless Dog of Nassau is, however, a non-profitable agency, but works to send local dogs for adoption and rescue organization in the United States.
‘We might not get a hit like another island. The saddest part is that right after the hurricane leaves the Bahamas, some island will need a lot of time and effort to recover.’
