‘My Husband Left Me After I Started Growing Facial Hair – Now I Refuse To Shave’

Mandeep Kaur from Punjab, India, got married to the love of her life in 2012. And she thought she was going to have the best time of her life after marriage. But a few years later, her husband noticed the changes in her appearance and left her.

She started growing her facial hair and a thick beard began to form on her face, not to mention her body hair.

Her husband dumped her after the change and that sent her into depression. But as time went by, she sought help and learned to accept her facial hair and body. She’s also started taking up farming with her brothers.

Mandeep found relief and peace in spirituality.

She attended gurdwara which is a worship place for Sikhs to learn about the religion’s basics. It is managed by volunteers and Mandeep shares how Guru Grant Sahib, the sacred scripture for Sikhs, has blessed her.

With her newfound faith, she’s learned to accept herself despite losing the love of her life. From depression and anguish, she’s turned to live with it, stopped shaving, and wears a turban with her beard.

She started farming with her brother, pictured with her brother Dhanveer Singh. It’s not known if she’s had her condition checked if it can be medically cured.

Hirsutism is a condition often seen in those with PCOS, or polycystic ovary syndrome. There are also medicines and anabolic steroids that can cause it, and more serious ones include tumors and Cushing’s syndrome.
