Woman Cuts Up £2,300 Worth Of Balenciaga Clothes In Protest Against BDSM Child Photo Scandal
The luxury fashion brand is under fire for running two controversial ad campaigns.
The luxury fashion house, Balenciaga recently ran two ad campaigns. One featured children holding teddy bear purses that appear to be wearing bondage accessories, while the other showed paperwork about a Supreme Court ruling on child s*x images. The ads [pictured below] have since been facing backlash from fans, including American and Australian influencers.
One of the people who’ve voiced against the Ad is Chloe Hennessey.
In protest, the 27-Year-Old from East London filmed herself cutting up a Balenciaga hoodie worth approximately £600. She also binned a Balenciaga T-Shirt, a pair of trainers, a pair of sunglasses, worth £1,700 in total. The move comes as the aesthetics practitioner, found out about the scandal online when she received negative comments for posting a video of herself wearing Balenciaga glasses, worth £705.
And looking into it, Chloe opted to get rid of all the branded clothes and accessories she owned and pledged to never support the fashion brand again.
“I actually love Balenciaga. They used to be my favorite brand. I had been home with my son as he’s been sick, so I didn’t know what was going on, when I posted the video. I was really confused about people calling me a pedophile. After I started investigation my whole TikTok was flooded with videos about what happened. I felt sick to my stomach,” Chloe told the DailyMail.
People have asked why didn’t she just donate the stuff, but the influencer insisted that if she did, someone else would be wearing it and promoting them.
She continued: “Obviously I’m not rich, so it was annoying to have to get rid of all of it, but taking a stand is so much more important in my opinion.” Fans have also called for more celebrities, like Nicole Kidman to cut ties with the fashion house, who has eventually apologized for both ads and removed them from their social media.
