Halima Cisse is a mother of nine in a single night after giving birth to nine children on May 5, 2021. The 26-year-old from the Republic of Mali shares the nine children with her husband she married in 2017, Kader Arby.

This was Halima’s second pregnancy, and initially, her doctor told her that she was going to have seven babies. Throughout the nine months, Halima struggled to carry her 30-kg belly, especially during the last trimester.

Former President of Mali, Bah N’Daw, heard of her news and transferred the pregnant woman to a hospital with better equipment in Morocco to give birth.

The doctors involved and the family were shocked that she was having not 7 but 9 babies!

Around ten doctors and 25 medical staff took part in helping with the birthing process. It took them 20 minutes to deliver the nine babies. Halima welcomed four boys and five girls, named Kadidia, Mohammed VI, Fatouma, Oumar, Hawa, Adama, Bah, Oumou, and El Hadji.

Her husband was only allowed to travel to meet his wife and the children on July 19 due to travel restrictions of the pandemic.

The navy sailor spoke, “It’s really amazing and indescribable. I can only thank God for keeping my wife and children alive.”

The family admits that they’re worried if they can financially provide for the children. They’re also thinking about expanding their three-bedroom house to accommodate their ten children soon.

“There will be a lot of work to do, but right now, we just focus on taking care of the children and then bringing them home. What worries me the most is not how many rooms or how much money the house has, but how it is for the good of wife and children.”

The family’s birth has also become national news receiving a lot of positive reactions from the people. They’ve received calls from people who shared in the joy of their birth. The Malian government was also involved in the process and has paid off the $1.5 million medical fees for birthing the babies.

Kader and his family thank the love and help they’ve received from everyone.
