Who doesn’t love that one Aunty Em that always spoils us with treats and tells us the most interesting stories? A lot of people have fond memories of their aunts, and parenting experts are seeing just how huge their roles are in promoting a healthy upbringing.

Aunts are our fun moms.

When our parents enforced rules in the house, even when we knew that they were mostly for our own good, we didn’t like it. We probably still don’t like it, but aunts are like our moms with only the fun parts. Aunts were there to cheer us up when we didn’t like it at home.

This fact is true, especially for people who didn’t want to spill their darkest secrets that might evoke some anger from their parents. Our aunts know things that not our parents nor closest friends know!

On top of that, you can ask them not to judge you when you tell your stories. And talking to them was just so therapeutic because we knew they wouldn’t yell at us despite what we’ve done.

Aunts give the best mental support.

Something about them being absolutely wholesome and supportive of us just gives us this warm feeling inside. Our aunts always tell us the right things to do and say. They will also be the second person to vote on your future children after your parents!

Aunts give the best gifts.

There’s something about aunts splurging on kids that aren’t theirs, but hey, that’s also the best part of us. They love seeing our excited faces when we receive our gifts, but physical gifts are the only things we’ve received from them.

Aunts are also amazing adults to learn our life lessons from, aside from our parents, obviously. And sometimes, there are values that are easier to understood when it’s not told directly by our parents.
