Transgender Man Who Gave Birth Loses Legal Fight To Be Recorded ‘Father’ On Birth Certificate
Transitioned from a woman to a man!
A transgender man who had given birth, but doesn’t want to be called a mother on a birth certificate has lost a high court battle.
The man named, Freddy McConnell, aged 32 was originally from Deal, Kent and wanted to be registered as a father or parent. A judge on September 25th ruled against his request after analyzing the argument in a High Court trial in London.

President of the Family Division of the High Court, Sir Andrew McFarlane heard how Mr. McConnell is a single parent, born a woman and living as a man following several surgeries.
Biologically, Mr. McConnell was able to give birth but legally became a man was his child was born.

A register specifically told Mr. McConnell that the law required people who bore children to be registered as ‘Mothers’ and not as ‘Father’ or ‘Parent.’
‘Theirs is a material difference between a person’s status as a parent and gender. Being a mother whilst hitherto always associated with being female has been the status granted to a person who experienced both the biological and physical process of carrying a pregnancy and giving birth to a child.’ Sir Andrew explained in a ruling.

He added: ‘While it is now legally and medically possible for any individual whose gender is known in law as a Male to be become pregnant and give birth, their parental status, derived from their biological role in giving birth to a child is that of a ‘Mother.’
Mr. McConnell, is a multimedia journalist working for The Guardian. His lawyer, Karen Holden, Founder of A City Law Firm revealed an appeal was being considered.

Freddy stated he will be open with his son as he grows up about his ‘Motherhood’ journey
Nevertheless, Mr. McConnell had started taking testosterone at age 25 and had breast tissue removal at age 26. He never removed his uterus because he didn’t rule out not wanting children.
