This Incredible Salt Mine In Poland Has Underground Lakes, Chapels And Even Chandeliers Made Of Salt

Some of the world wonders are from the results of man’s works. Although salt mine was not one to be particularly proud of due to its slavery history, these people did not let those hard works be left abandoned. In Poland, the Wieliczka salt mine, near Krakow was opened in the 13th century. It is now part of UNESCO’s world heritage.

One of the reasons that made this space impressive is that the whole structure in this mine is made of salt. Reaching as deep as -1072 ft below ground, there are underground lakes, over 2,000 chambers and chapels with hanging chandeliers made of, you can guess, salt!
