Siri Saves College Student From Drowning Jeep
Another amazing story of how technology can really save lives.
There are more than enough stories of when technology helps people in emergency situations. Here’s another story where a student’s quick-thinking, partnered with technology availability has saved his life from an impossible situation.
18-year-old student Gael Salcedo was on his way to North Iowa Area Community College to attend his classes when his car hit ice on the road. It causes his car to slip and made him lose control of it as it heads down towards Winnebago River.
He recalls the horrible experience, “I turned to the right and from there, everything just went blurry. I didn’t know where I was going and then I just didn’t know what to do. I was just thinking in my head ‘I think I’m going to die.'”
He didn’t know where his iPhone had flown during that short time of havoc, but he knew he could still use it.
“I lost my phone and since I couldn’t find it, I was like ‘Hey Siri, call 911.’ And once Siri called, that’s when I found my phone finally,” he said. It successfully made the call and allowed emergency services to come and rescue Gael.
