Single Mom Says She Can Only Afford To Feed Children £1 Pizzas Due To Childcare Bills

A single working mom has revealed she only afford to feed her children £1 Pizzas due to her sky-high nursery fees.
Kimberley Hill, aged 23 from Telford, Shropshire explained she feared she will be forced to quit her job since nursery costs are leaving her with no funds to cater for her children.

The single mother-of-two had switched to the Universal Credit in June, expecting it would be of a positive impact for her family. Specifically, Kimberley took an advance payment loan of £1,000 to cover costs between when her benefit stopped and her Universal Credit began.
By September 20th, she started a part-time job as a logistics admin. Thus, as a working mother, it’s expected to be entitled to 30 hours of free childcare per week, but since Kimberley missed an August 31appliation deadline she had been left to foot the bills.

She’s now faced with monthly outgoings of £879 for nursery fees for her 3-Year-Old son Austin and 200 for an aftercare school for her 5-Years-Old son, Wyatt, totaling more than the £920 she’s paid monthly.
Overall, Kimberley’s monthly bills sum up to £2,096.50 while her monthly universal credit payment totals £1,969.

‘My monthly income doesn’t even cover my childcare costs let alone any other bills. I can’t afford to pay for a childcare upfront.’ Kimberley stated.
Accordingly, the money-strapped mother has equally been in and out of the hospital for a digestive problem due to lack of healthy food.
Kimberley added: ‘I feed my children, then I eat whatever’s left. Healthy food is very expensive while cheap food is not.’

Reacting, the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has revealed its plans in offering Miss. Kimberley assistance from the Flexible Support Fund.
‘We are committed to assisting everyone accesses the support they need. Upfront care costs can now be claimed out of the Flexible Support Fund and Miss Hill’s claim has been permitted.’ A DWP spokesperson announced.
