Schoolgirl Whose ‘Lingerie Outfit’ Made Teacher Feel ‘Uncomfortable’ Misses Final Year
It’s said a teacher was a little bit old school.
Karis Wilson was left embarrassed after being sent home from school over her outfit. The incident was so heartbreaking that she didn’t return to school until her graduation at the end of the year. The 18-Year-Old was told her black dress with lace trim over a long-sleeve turtleneck reminded a female teacher of lingerie and made a male student feel uncomfortable.
A teacher had pulled Karis out of her class and escorted her to the principal’s office, where it unanimously agreed the outfit was inappropriate.
Since the incident, Karis’s Classmates have staged a walkout to show their support for her. Her dad, Christopher Wilson, also joined, taking to Facebook Live to speak of the incident. In an interview with Daily Star, he insisted his daughter wasn’t sexually wearing the outfit and wasn’t wearing it for attention as she typically wears track pants and a hoody.
He added: “She had a snowboarding accident a month or two ago and couldn’t be active for a whole. She had started going to the gym and feeling better about herself.”
“Then, one day, she decided to wear a dress and feel good about herself; this is how they reacted. She had lost more than a week of school and then she said ‘dad I don’t know what to wear to school.’ She elaborated a little bit and said ‘Dad if I wear just my track pants and hoodie, if I wear something comfortable, am I confirming.”
“If I wear something I feel pretty in, am I trying to rub it in their face?”
In a separate interview with CBS News, Christopher shared that Karis was told it could make the male student teacher feel awkward and make her female classroom teacher feel awkward since it reminded her of a lingerie outfit. In 2021, Christopher was eventually told the teacher was a little bit old school after complaining to the principal.
