Schoolgirl, 12, is So Allergic To Water Even Having A Shower Could Kill Her

All living creatures depend on water survival! And when it comes to humans, almost all the body organs require water, an estimated 2.4litres daily on average. But what happens if you’re allergic to water? Ever imagine being allergic to something unavoidable. This is precisely the case of 12-Year-Old, Danielle McCraven, who’s allergic to water.

Danielle McCraven from Haughton, Louisiana, has been forced to give up gymnastics, specifically swimming, due to her allergy to water. She enjoys swimming but having a hot shower or being soak in the bath could be fatal. Accordingly, the young teen breaks out in painful hives each time she cries or sweats.
She had developed a rare condition – aquagenic urticaria at age 11. Being a condition that affects an estimated 100 people worldwide, Danielle experiences an itchy and painful rash whenever she comes in contact with water. Currently, she carries around an EpiPen should in case she goes into an anaphylactic shock. Her water allergy has resulted in staying indoors amid the summer in a bid to avoid sweats.
Danielle’s mom, identified as Sari, admitted it’s been excruciating and miserable for her daughter. Sari claimed that Danielle loves swimming, but due to her condition, she suspended, adding that it can cause her to go into an anaphylactic shock, and that’s life-threatening.
39-Year-Old Sari added: ‘It scares me when it covers her whole body because it means it’s getting worse. She’s allergic to bottled water, tap water, saltwater, but she can ingest it. It’s stressful when she needs to wash her face or have a shower because she doesn’t want to do it; she’s scared.’
Nevertheless, the 12-Year-Old takes one dose of anti-histamines every day and carries around an EpiPen. On the other hand, her family hopes she doesn’t get worse over time as they’re scared the worst could happen.
