Priest Brings Stray Dogs To Mass So They Can Find New Families
Should Father Paulo’s strategy be adopted in more churches?
Homeless dogs in Brazil often attend Mass to meet with their new owners. If you are thinking that dogs turned to God for assistance, it’s not the case here. This exceptional scenario occurs every Sunday at Paroquia de Sant’Ana Gravata, originated by a being like you and me.
Yes, a priest – Joao Paulo Araujo Gomes, the head of the Parish of Santan located in the city of Gravata in Brazil doesn’t the most generous thing for stray dogs wandering around his church.
The kind priest invites abandoned dogs from the streets to become part of his Sunday service and to also help them find a forever home. The doors of his church are wide open for dogs.
Tell me, who won’t want to attend a mass where dogs are involved? Bet you know that dogs give unconditional love, precious memories, and even laughter – all of which it’s nothing less than fair to return their loyal gesture.
Whether you are a believer in God or not, we can make the world a better place, as long as you understand what being kind is all about.

The priest, Joao Paulo has been housing stray dogs in his rectory. But brings them to the church service in hopes they will be noticed and adopted freely.
Every Sunday, he makes sure the dogs are a center of attraction and being adorable as they are, his furry friends often join the priest on the altar for some belly rubs and attention. Guess what? The priest never disappointed them.
Father Joao Paulo wrote on Facebook: ‘They will forever be able to enter sleep, drink their water, eat and find both shelter and protection. This house is of God and they are of God.’
