Gabrielle was born female but didn’t identify with any gender. Being non-binary is a term not widely accepted; it’s only gradually attaining a stand in today’s society. However, one of its downs is recently experienced by Gabrielle at a barbershop. They have called out Aaron at his Sydney Barbershop, Groomsmen, for saying he ‘doesn’t cut girls hair.’
Gabrielle claims to have been disrespected by Aaron at his Sydney barbershop, Groomsmen.
Gabrielle, in particular, messaged Aaron on Instagram, insisting that his comments were harmful and damaging while making queer people feel uncomfortable. The message read: “Hey Aaron, you cut my hair a few days ago and made some pretty harmful comments. First of all, I am nonbinary. And second of all, haircuts are not gendered.”
To clear out their mind, Gabrielle messaged Aaron informing him of his ‘harmful comments.’
“Telling me that I am a girl and you do not cut girls hair is frankly sexist and uncalled for. My hair is biologically no different than any other gender. I asked for a masculine haircut, which you do.” Gabrielle insisted that their anatomy has nothing to do with the men’s haircut they asked for and even pleaded with Aaron to understand why what he said was downright wrong.
They pointed that their anatomy has nothing to do with the men’s haircut they requested for.
They further applauded Aaron’s job, claiming he did a great job but added that situations of such make queer people feel uncomfortable, afraid, and mostly resort to cutting or coloring their hairs in the bathroom. Gabrielle concluded: “I hope I can come back to the Groomsmen one day without fear of being discriminated against, and I hope you can understand where I coming from.”
Unfortunately, Aaron didn’t take the plea well and hit back at Gabrielle with his messages.
He wrote on his Instagram: “Try and give it a rest on the whole sexual orientation and gender equality accusations, okay? Quite frankly, I do not recall myself making any harmful comments.” Aaron didn’t stop there; he shared a series of videos on his Instagram. He continued: “If you’re a man who’s now gay or had a sex change, you’ve still got male hair.
“It doesn’t f**king matter if you’re requesting a men’s haircut; you’re still a female, you still have female hair,” Aaron said.
“I had a girl come in – a girl, a female, a woman and ask for a men’s haircut. It doesn’t f***ing matter if you’re requesting a men’s haircut; you’re still a female, you still have female hair. You’re a girl, everything you have in the feminine. None of this ‘I’m gay, now I’m a boy. Nah, man, you’re a f**king woman. I don’t care who you like; you’re a woman, you will always be a woman, you will always have woman hair.”
Aaron doubled his point of view, insisting that Gabrielle and other people like them were entitled.
People didn’t well receive Aaron’s response, but it turned out he didn’t care. He doubled his point of view, insisting that Gabrielle and other people like them were entitled. The barber equally claimed to have plenty of gay and lezzo friends than Gabrielle, revealing he accepts all of them. He went further to respond to Gabrielle’s anecdote about many queer people being forced to cut and dye their hair.
People didn’t well receive Aaron’s response, but he didn’t care.
He wrote: “Stick to cutting and coloring your hair in the bathroom, not because you’re (sic) unaccepted but because you are (sic) unwelcome.” Rather than responding hot, Gabrielle kept it classy and short. “I’d be happy to provide some info on the queer community should you decided to educate yourself. Happy Pride Month,” they said, to which Aaron replied: “You mean the circus,” but again, Gabrielle referred to him as the ‘clown.’
