Nobel Peace Prize 2019 Winner Had Just Been Announced
A total of 301 candidates made up the nominees list.
The world eagerly waited to hear who’s next to be awarded the 2019 Nobel Peace Prize, officially, the results are out. This year’s winner is Abiy Ahmed, the Prime Minister of Ethiopia.
Abiy Ahmed, a 43-year Politician got the title for his peacemaking deal with longtime opposition, Eritrea and was recently appreciated for his impact in creating a power-sharing deal in Sudan, right after a political crisis that led to the detention of Omar al-Bashir.
Many individuals had, however, thought the award would be awarded to the sixteen years old, Swedish teenager and climate activist, Greta Thunberg.
Speaking on this year’s Nobel Peace Prize Nomination, Jakub Janda, the Director of the European Values Center For Security Policy spoke to Bored Panda.
Janda explained that the 2019 nomination was really a good choice, adding that It was a decision reached having cleared the highlights of what the Nobel Peace Prize is all about. ‘Bring in a political solution to an intense conflict as well as ultimately creating peace was the major goal. That why it’s such a good choice.’ Janda said.
He added: ‘I have always believed that the pro-democracy citizens in Hong Kong would also deserve the Nobel Peace Prize as well.’ revealing his thought about a next worthy winner.

However, the 100th Nobel Peace Prize was made known at 11 AM CEST after critical deliberation. This year alone, there is a total of 301 candidates, among which 223 were individuals while 78 were organizations.
Greta Thunberg was clearly a favorite to win the 2019 Nobel Prize
She had a lot of supporters as well as a bunch of critics
