A woman shared her breakup story following a viral trend and boy if it doesn’t shock people. The bar for men has gone so low, so hopefully, this is a unique case of just the man Jackie Li happened to date, unfortunately.
Hawaiian TikTok creator Jackie Li shared that she was dating her ex-boyfriend for four years when one day, he Venmo’ed her $7.
Her story went viral and reached 5 million views since it was posted. Jackie started her story, “One time I was feeling really sick and I asked my boyfriend at the time if he could buy me some cold medicine on his way home.”
“So after he finished work, he dropped by CVS and picked up some DayQuil for me. Really kind of him, really appreciate that.”
Jackie said she was glad her boyfriend bought her the medicine so she went to sleep after taking it.
She continued, “I wake up and he has Venmo charged me $7 for this medicine. He Venmo charged me $7 for cold medicine.”

“I think I prefer a relationship where it’s like, ‘Hey, I’ll get this, you get that the next time,’ and we’re not keeping track of our expenses, dollar by dollar. I should’ve known, but you know, we’re not together anymore so it wasn’t meant to be.”
The issue of who’s paying in a relationship was always one that was debated, such as who should pay on dates and how the bills and rent should be split. But certainly, counting down to the dollars when your partner is sick and needed the medicine sounds a little too petty, no?
People were in shock and shared how they thought love shouldn’t have warranted a Venmo request to your bedridden partner for the cold medicine you just got her.
