Mom-Of-Two Mauled To Death By Her Dog After It ‘Turned Mad’ In Heat

Joanne Robinson is an owner of an American Bully XL dog called Rocco – which is one of the legal dog breeds. But sadly, the 43-Year-Old saw death after the pet mauled her at around 10 p.m. in a house in Rotherham, South Yorkshire. It’s alleged the dog had turned mad due to extreme heat. 

Jamie Stead, 42, Robinson’s partner, was also left with injuries to his hands, stomach, and face as he tried to save her and pull the animal off. 

The family is in disbelief and shock over Robinson’s death and believes the weather might have affected the animal. Her mom, Dotty Robinson, said her daughter had two XL Bully dogs, including Rocco, who was nearly two, and Lola. She claimed the pets were well-behaved and not dangerous, adding that she doesn’t know when they suddenly snapped.

Dotty insisted: “I can only think they turned mad in the extreme heat. It must have set them off.” 

She further told The Sun that both Rocco and Lola have been destroyed and said of Jamie: “He’s hoping to come home from the hospital today, but he is still in much pain. He knows Joanna has gone and is absolutely devastated, as we all are. We will miss her so much. He’s had a horrible ordeal. He’s lost his partner of twenty years and his dogs.” Taking to Facebook, Robinson’s son Dillon has penned a heartbreaking tribute to his mother.

His post began: “If you want to share anything about my mum, please feel free to share this. Let’s remember how she was the crazy, caring, loving mum, daughter, friend, sister, auntie, and Nannan.” 

Since Robinson’s death, dozens of floral tributes have been left at the scene on Masefield Road. However, there have been incidents involving Bully XL dogs, with police revealing in March that Bella-Rae Birch, a 17-month-old toddler, was killed by one in her own home. At the time, Police said the toddler was attacked at her family’s home in St Helens, Merseyside, a week after they purchased the dog.
