Mom Dies After Having Laser Liposuction At Shopping Center Clinic
The family spent five hours looking for an ambulance with oxygen.
Ana Rosa Mavarez, a 31-year-old mom in Venezuela was pronounced dead shortly after she got a liposuction. She reportedly complained of feeling discomfort and difficulty breathing to her doctor and had to be wheeled to the clinic but was on the waitlist for 5 hours before getting her oxygen tank.
She underwent the procedure at the Marina Plaza Ambulatory Surgery Unit on Saturday night. At nightfall, she complained of discomfort and was rushed to a hospital her doctor did not prescribe medicine to treat it.
She’s a mom to an eight-year-old girl and an eleven-year-old boy.
Petra Rivero, her mother, spoke with a news outlet that the surgeon performed lipo laser on her, which is a procedure where the laser is used to break down the fat cells while tightening the loose skin.
She began convulsing at 10 PM and was intubated only 2 and a half hours later when Dr. Larrochelle showed up. The death certificate read at 11 PM, but the doctor attempted to conceal the fact from her family.
Dr. Larrochelle, the surgeon, has been arrested and will be held for 45 days during the investigation.
There weren’t any ambulances that had oxygen tanks and she was only transferred to a clinic at 4.30 AM. Her mom was determined to fight for her case.
“I am going to fight for my daughter because she was not an animal. And just as it happened to my daughter, it has happened to many. And it’s going to keep happening if they don’t retaliate with that bum. That’s a butcher shop they have there.”
