Male Engineering Student Beautifully Explains Why Female Classmates Aren’t His Equals
There are times when inequality is beautiful.
As much as we want that both men and women are on the same footing, the fact is not so. Engineering is understood as a subject dominated by men, no, a subject that only men do. We are also in awe at women who take the rare path, but people who actually shun such acts still exist.
Men and women aren’t on equal footing yet today. And in fact, men are not afraid to say that women will never be their equal.
But this man may have just earned the respect of women by saying so.
The writer is Jared Mauldin, a senior student at Eastern Washington University. Mauldin’s open letter swept the Internet like a storm. He got to speak on Today Show and said, “Really, when you look at this letter, I said nothing new. I didn’t say anything that another feminist writer hasn’t said before. The distinguishing factor happens to be that I am a man. That is a problem.”
It’s also an apparent problem that people, both men, and women, tend to hire men for math-related jobs. Things are changing, but women could still be given even more appreciation today!
