Kate And William ‘Snubbed’ Harry And Megan’s Invite To Lilibet’s Birthday Party
The Cambridges snubbed their invitation.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle celebrated their daughter Lilibet’s first birthday on June 4. The Cambridges weren’t seen anywhere at the party, however, despite having been invited as a whole family to the party held at Frogmore Cottage.
Megan is pictured with Camilla Holmstroem, the wife of the photographer Misan Harriman and their two daughters.
The Cambridges were seen at Cardiff Castle preparing to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee that week. Aside from them, Zara and Mike Tindall were also invited, and they came with their three children.
The rare glimpse of the little princess was after the Queen reportedly banned pictures from being taken when she met Lilibet for the first time.
“Meghan must have been furious when she heard that photographs of their Windsor meeting were forbidden,” wrote Tom Bower, a journalist who’s working on the biography of the Duchess of Sussex.
“Banned from the balcony for Trooping the Colour, no shot of her with the Queen in St Paul’s, and then the final blow was no shot of Lilibet with her great-grandmother. Finally, the Palace is playing a good hand.”
“The Sussexes’ contract with Netflix is in jeopardy. The veto of photos will fuel the Sussexes’ resentment. Harry’s reprisal could be more revelations in his book billed to be published later this year. This is a dangerous game for both sides.”
The brothers’ feud after the Sussexes were kicked out of Kensington Palace after they allegedly bullied the staff was rumored to be the reason for their absence.
It was an “intimate backyard picnic” for the birthday party with only the family’s close friends and family members invited.
Misan Harriman, who took the pictures of the birthday party, was also reportedly the person behind the camera for many of the Sussexes pictures. He was also involved at the beginning of the couple’s relationship, saying, “Meg reminded me that had I not introduced her to a mutual friend, then she wouldn’t have met Harry. I’m grateful for whatever small part I played.”
The LA-based couple’s entourage was seen carrying the same wooden swing set Prince Charles gave to Prince William and Catherine.
Lilibet and Archie were absent from the Platinum Jubilee celebration as toys were being offloaded.
The two flew back to Windsor to celebrate the party but made only a few appearances during Her Majesty’s 70-year reign.
They were only at the Trooping of the Color and the St. Paul’s Thanksgiving Service. They were relegated to the Major General’s Office and were said “really fed up” with being sidelined by “men in suits” since they quit their royal positions in 2020.
They were also booed as they exited St. Paul’s on Friday. Commentator Richard Fitzwilliams said, “The Sussexes should have learned a lesson over the last few days. When it actually comes to capturing hearts and minds, it is about service, not about self.”
They weren’t seen greeting Prince William nor his wife, despite being pictured chatting up the Archbishop of York.
Another critic added, “Their attitude seems to be if we’re not center stage we don’t really want to be here.”
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge stayed by the Queen’s side and missed the birthday party to watch the concert.
The Sussexes left the palace for California an hour before the Platinum Jubilee Pageant began.
The 96-year-old Queen was absent for most of the Bank Holiday weekend as she found the first day tiring, although it was enjoyable, and thanked those who wished her well. Her Majesty wrote, “I have been humbled and deeply touched that so many people have taken to the streets to celebrate my Platinum Jubilee.”
The Cambridges wished Lilibet a happy birthday through social media during the event.
The Queen is pictured with her Royal relatives: Prince Charles, Prince of Wales, Queen Elizabeth II, Prince George of Cambridge, Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, Princess Charlotte of Cambridge, Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, and Prince Louis of Cambridge.
Royal author Phil Dampier continued, “They must realize they are no longer popular with the general public, and traveling in and out by private jet hardly helps their so-called green credentials.”
“I’m afraid that all the time Harry is writing a book and making Netflix fly on the wall programs, Charles and William will not trust him. They would worry that any in-depth conversations would be repeated in the media, and so I’m sure they are keeping him at arm’s length for the time.”
