Jordan Peterson Shames SI Swimsuit Model Yumi Nu, And Gets Mocked Brutally
“No amount of authoritarian tolerance is going to change that.”
Clinical psychologist and married YouTuber Dr. Jordan Peterson has become the latest under fire after making a controversial comment on a woman’s body. They quoted the cover magazine of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover image of Yumi Nu, who was “shaking” in excitement to make it there and said she was “not beautiful.”
The tweet has received over 56k likes, with many defending Yumi Nu in particular and voluptuous women in general.
“Sorry. Not beautiful. And no amount of authoritarian tolerance is going to change that,” he commented.
He continued to comment on how it’s an attempt to “manipulate & retool the notion of beauty.”
He’s best known for his “12 Rules For Life” book, where he lists his methods as a conservative and identifies as an intellectual that often talks about the current political climate and shares his views on cultural changes. The YouTuber has over 5 million subscribers right now, but many have come to Yumi Nu’s defense against him.
“He’s always been a parody of an “intellectual” psychologist, dummies,” wrote one. Another commented, “‘ Authoritarian’? Chunky women on magazine covers? You sound like a parody of you.”
A sound argument was made by photographer and model Martina Markota, who made an appearance in Vogue Italia.
Nu previously told The Post that she was overwhelmed when she found herself surprised by the photoshoot session.
She recalled the moment, “I could not speak. I had full-body chills. I was shaking; I was crying. They really got me good.”
“It’s amazing. I’m on cloud nine. This is nothing I could prepare for. It’s unexpected. I feel like we’re in a place right now where people are making space for more diversity on magazine covers.”
“It’s a big time for Asian American people in media. I know I play a big role in representation in body diversity and race diversity, and I love to be a role model and representative of the plus-size Asian community.”
She’s also appeared in Vogue alongside supermodel Bella Hadid and has made multiple runway appearances with her and Kendall Jenner.
The attacks continued as people turned the same tweet to him.
Yumi Nu is just one among many women who’ve been cast on Sports Illustrated’s cover as they entered an inclusive era by getting models of all sizes and ranges.
