Johnny Depp Plays The Role Of King Louis XV In First Film Since Defamation Trial Against Amber
It’s expected for released in 2023.
In his first film role since his defamation trial, Johnny Depp has been pictured as King Louis XV of France in Jeanne Du Barry. The 59-Year-Old appeared nearly unrecognizable, sporting a blindfolded and a vintage blonde wig. He’s set to play King Louis XV alongside Maiwenn Le Besco, who will both direct the film and play the role of King Louis’s mistress.
The film will also be Depp’s first film in French and is expected to be released in 2023.
The budget for the movie is unclear, but the actor has an up-front starting fee of $20million for any role. Besides, this new film marks a return for Depp after much of Hollywood blacklisted him following domestic violence accusations from his ex-wife Amber Heard. Filming on the project officially begins in July, and as per the Deadline, it’s expected to last for 11 weeks.
In a new poster for the film, Depp, who sported a vintage wig, was dressed in 18th-century clothing, alongside a regal gold jacket with a high collar and a white shirt.
He looked noticeably pale in the image, and he appeared to have reddened lips. The storyline follows the title character Jeanne, a working-class woman who climbed the Paris social hierarchy and eventually came to the attention of King Louis XV. However, this comes as Depp seems to be attracting interest again in Hollywood after his lawsuit awarded him $15million.
He had been forced to resign from the Fantastic Beast franchise at the request of Warner Bros after a British court ruled that 12 of 14 violence incidents claimed by Amber were substantially true.
But of now, Depp is also reportedly in talks to star in another pirate of the Caribbean film and reprise his role as Captain Jack Sparrow after a $301Million offer from Disney. As per reports, Depp had, during his trial against Amber, alleged he wouldn’t return to the Pirates franchise even if he were offered $300million, which perhaps led Disney to provide him with $1Million more.
