Peter Pan Fans Slam Disney’s Woke Remake For Including Girls Among Lost Boys

The remake has already been labeled a flop.

Disney’s latest live-action remake, Peter Pan and Wendy has been accused of pushing a woke agenda as it features girls portraying the Lost Boys. The backlash emerged from the new trailer released, which shows the moment Wendy arrives in Neverland and encounters the Lost Boys, only to notice girls among them.

Until now, the Lost Boys have consisted of all male characters named Slightly, Nibs, The Twins, Cubby, and Tootles.

In 2021, the character Cubby was renamed Curly, and now the new female characters are called Birdie and Bellweather.

In a shot in the trailer, a group of children could be seen gathering around as they introduced themselves as lost boys,” and a little girl added, “every last one of us.” It then showed a shocked Wendy, who remarked, “But you’re not all boys! To which another replied, ‘So?’ Fans of Peter Pan have since slammed this change, with one Twitter user labeling it a flop while another asked, “What have they done to my characters?”

A third wrote: “They have done so many Peter remakes, they never end well and add wokeness. “Well, that’s going to make it flop harder than all the others.” A fourth stated: “Let me guess, Wendy is going to be the strong female leader, and Peter Pan will take a background role. Oh, and why does this film look so gray and miserable? “It’s a kid’s film.” Someone else wrote: “Are you freakin’ kidding me?” What happened to my boys, Peter Pan, Captain Hook, and Tinker Bell?”

This is not the first time Disney has been slammed for pushing a woke agenda in its Children’s films.

In February, it came under fire for its new cartoon series, ‘The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder.” It featured black children rapping about reparations while claiming slaves built this country. Accordingly, Halle Bailey, 22, also received racist backlash after she was revealed as Ariel in the live-action remake of The Little Mermaid

According to MailOnline’s poll, 93% of responses are of the view that girls shouldn’t be in Peter Pan’s Lost Boys.

However, the new remake, set to premiere on April 28, follows the timeless tale of a young girl who defies her parents’ wishes to attend boarding school and instead travels with her two brothers to Neverland. She meets Peter Pan [pictured below], a boy who refuses to grow up, a tiny fairy named Tinker Bell, and the evil Captain Hook. On the other hand, J.M. Barrie explains who the lost boys are in his original play.

Barrie said of the boys: “They are boys who fall out of their prams when the nurse is looking the other way, and if they are not claimed in seven days, they are sent far away to Neverland.”
