Hawaiian Man Proposes His Girlfriend While Surfing But Drops The Ring Into The Ocean
But hold up, that’s not the whole story.
Christopher Garth is a romantic man aside from being a surfer. Meeting a girl who loves the same thing as he seems to have helped him stage the best place for the occasion. His girlfriend, Lauren Oiye, loves surfing and they were on in Honolulu where Chris decided to pop the question.
The executive producer of a non-profit launched his strategy.
Chris surfed with her and got on his knees, albeit wobbly, with the right in his hands.
Surprised and excited Lauren half thought this was a joke, but she said ‘Yes!’
Well, that was before Chris ultimately dropped the ring into the ocean which is where everyone’s bet is on. But Chris isn’t as careless as bringing the real rock to the risky proposal. It turns out to be a stand-in for the actual ring.
Lauren, a therapist, wrote on Instagram how the proposal went.
“We caught a wave together at the surf break we met and had many of our first dates. ‘I turn back to make sure he was on the wave with me and he was on one knee with a ring box and screamed out “Lauren, I love you! Will you marry me?!”
“Of course I am beside myself that I get to spend the rest of my life with this man that I LOVE from the depths of my entire being, is a bigger feminist than I am, and makes me laugh everyday and reminds me how simple and beautiful life is.”
So, they got engaged right where they met years ago.
Photographers were waiting for the perfect moments and now, they can’t stop sharing lovely pictures of them together.
On her post, she wrote, “Christopher Garth, I love you and am so grateful the stars aligned and our ancestors that came before us so beautifully orchestrated this for us!
“Here’s to a lifetime of laughter and keeping things simple and authentic.”
The two shared that the water is more than just a meeting place. At least for Lauren, the water is a place where she embarked on a journey for healing and love eight years ago. But she never imagined that she’d met the love of her life, be proposed on it and feels for real how it’s a home for the Waikiki-based couple.
