Girl, 20, Refused Moving In After Finding Out Boyfriend 24 Y.O. Doesn’t Do House Chores
This is marriage, not hiring a helper.
Are you trying to find a housekeeper or marry your girlfriend? ‘Boys will be boys’ is not an excuse for men not knowing how to do a single chore at home. But such was a horror that a woman barely dodged after discussing moving in with a 24-year-old man she was dating.
We’re talking about basic life skills to ensure your survivability on your own in a civilization.
AITA for refusing to teach my boyfriend to do basic household chores?
She flat out refused to have to take on the ‘mom’ role in the relationship to teach him life skills. If he really cared about it, he could always ask his mom how to do things or pay enough attention when they work, but he didn’t.
Plus, Google is free.
She offers to teach him how to cook as that’s her hobby, but other than that, she expects him to learn everything else on his own.
Now, we know some parents opt not to teach their sons life skills for odd reasons. It ranges from “those are women’s jobs” to “they’ll figure it out later.” Well, marriage is not the same as finding a housekeeper.
It’s undeniable that more women know how to care for home due to the tendencies of parents pushing them to learn it. Even if you hate to wash the dishes or fold the laundry, you know those are things you NEED to know how to do on your own.
This is common sense. Nobody needs to explain why a grown-up man must know how to clean and fold their underwear. But here we are.
