The bar manager believed to be in his 30s, equally told Mollie that he had declined service all day to people without tops. But, it turned out, Mollie wasn’t the only victim as she went to the pub with her friend Amy Lee, also 20. Lee wasn’t also served because her outfit was described as ‘Unsuitably.’

The bar manager claimed her top was equal to a man being shirtless, so she won’t be attended to.

“We got halfway walking through the pub when a male manager shouted for us to stop. He said, ‘You can’t come in here, you’re dressed inappropriately, and it isn’t suitable. You can’t be wearing a top like that.” Mollie explained in a TikTok clip. The duo had dressed in black halter crop tops, ankle-length skirts, and trainers as the country basked in 28C heat.

Here’s The Outfit:

Mollie revealed how she and Amy quizzed the manager over the dress code but didn’t get a straight answer about one. She added that she later researched online and couldn’t spot anything that highlighted a Wetherspoons dress code. Interestingly, Mollie claimed she had only been served in the same pub earlier that week wearing the same crop top. “I was embarrassed,” Mollie stated.

Mollie and her friend headed to the Back of Beyond Pub in Reading, Berks at 8 p.m, where they grabbed some food after watching England beat Croatia 1-0 in the opening Euro match. The Tech worker pointed out that she and Amy were allowed in by a female bouncer and were checked into NHS Test and Trace and even showed their IDs before heading out to the garden.

It turned out, Mollie and Amy had only been served in the same pub earlier that week wearing the same crop top.

For clarifications, Mollie claimed she asked the female bouncer why she let them in but didn’t also get a straight answer. She continued: “I’ve got a larger chest. Even if I wore a turtleneck, you’d still see a very noticeable shape. My boobs are always going to show because I have them, and there’s nothing I can do about that.” So far, Mollie’s clip has garnered reactions, and it appears many women found it as a relatable experience.

According to the Sun, a spokesman for J D Wetherspoon has since reacted. They wrote: “Two female customers visited the Back of Beyond pub in Reading on Sunday evening at approximately 7:40 p.m. Shortly after entering, the customers were politely asked to leave the pub as on consideration by the pub’s management team.

“Their dress was not, in this particular case, in accordance with the company’s guidance to pubs on appropriate customer dress,” Wetherspoon explained.

Wetherspoon added: “What may be considered appropriate dress is invariably a matter of individual judgment, and whilst no offense was intended to the two customers by request to leave the pub, we support the approach of the pub’s management team; in this instance.”
