Girl, 10, Successfully Delivers Baby After Mom Goes Into Labor At Home
A little girl has been hailed as a hero for her mom after successfully helping out her mom deliver. Miracle lived up to her name as she posed the most important role in the process of welcoming her baby sister.
Miracle’s mom went into labor before she reached full term, prompting her to ask Miracle to call 911.
Viola was three weeks early and the 30-year-old had obviously taught her girl how to dial the number! The family based in Missouri were at a loss as they might have to deliver the baby at home.
Miracle phoned and a dispatcher picked it up, immediately asking what she needs help with. Miracle calmly explained the situation.
Miracle said, “Hi, I think my mom is in labor.”
Scott Stranghoener, the man who was in charge of the phone call, walked her through the steps and gave her simple instructions to be relayed to her mother.
Miracle’s calm demeanor helped Viola deliver the baby following Scott’s instructions.
It was nerve-wrecking, but thanks to Miracle, everything went well. She repeatedly told her mom “Don’t sit on the toilet” and “Mama, they said to lie on your back in the center of the bed or on the floor”.
She relayed what was happening to the dispatcher as well, including when the baby was coming out. She told him, “She’s coming! She’s coming! She’s here! … Her head is here!”
She was praised as she remembered the steps to do when the baby arrives.
“Miracle was there with a towel to wipe off her face and to help stimulate her to cry and keep her warm until paramedics arrived.”
The paramedics arrived not long after and immediately transferred the mom and her baby to the hospital for checkup. They were both healthy and Miracle quickly became a local hero.
Her mom praised her, “She was really helpful, I am very thankful.”
Miracle was granted gifts and certificates for her amazing help, including a tablet for educational activities. The mom can’t stop gushing over her brave girl, “It was definitely a miracle because once I had the baby, she came out, I couldn’t really grab her and pick her up, and then Miracle came, and she wrapped her up in a towel.”
