‘Friends’ Special Reunion Episode On HBO Max Has Been Delayed
Postponed to time indefinite.
WarnerMedia is launching its new streaming platform this May and it was supposed to accompany a special episode on ‘Friends’ cast reunion. But with the pandemic and reminder for social-distancing, the episode has been delayed.
Hollywood has been pausing, cancelling and closing down productions progressively since last month. Previously, the cast had already agreed on the pay for the special episode, which consists Jennifer Aniston (Rachel), Courtney Cox (Monica), Lisa Kudrow (Phoebe), David Schwimmer (Ross), Matthew Perry (Chandler), and Matt LeBlanc (Joey).
Each cast is to be paid $2.5 million and $3 million for their appearance on the special episode and was supposed to be filmed on March 23-24. The production halt may mean it will happen in May. And it’s one of their highly anticipated offer that equals to that of ‘The Mandalorian’ for Disney+ and ‘Stranger Things’ with Netflix.
While the pandemic has affected the production of the special episode, HBO has not announced if the launch date for WarnerMedia will also be affected.
