Doritos Ad About A Dad & His Gay Son Is A Tearjerking True Story

Might you still remember that Reddit story of a father in a dilemma about his gay son? He was proud of his bulb, but he didn’t like how his son was tiptoeing around the house with his “friend” and he wants them to feel relaxed around him.

Doritos picked up that beautiful story and turned it into a short film.

The Reddit post resonated with many children and parents alike.

The father had an inkling of his son’s sexuality, and he became sure of it when his son told him he moved into a flat with a “friend.”

Wanting them to be more open with him, the Mexican dad headed to Reddit for advice, despite not being well-versed with technology.

In the original Reddit post, the dad actually walked in the two sleeping and cuddling on a bed.

It was even funnier in the original post because it’s actually his boyfriend that kept slipping up!

The dad decided to pretend he didn’t hear it most of the time.

While they have a great relationship, dad is stumped on how to have a conversation about it.

Reddit helped out, many advising him to essentially just let them know they’re more than welcomed to share anything, whenever they’re comfortable with themselves.

You know what? Love wins.

It always does.

This ad is part of their Doritos Rainbow project, which begins in 2015. For a limited time, the company sells Doritos Rainbow which is Doritos in various colors. But the limited-edition product was only made available to people who made a donation for ‘It Gets Better Project’ which helps the cause of LGBTQ+ communities.

Eduardo Córdoba the marketing director of Doritos Mexico spoke, “We’re really proud of the accomplishments that have been achieved with Doritos Rainbow. We believe the moment is right to show that our commitment extends beyond a proud celebration every June.”
