Dad Said ‘F*** Off’ To Teacher Who Forces Him To Invite The Whole Class To Son’s Birthday Party
“I am the one throwing the party, and she doesn’t get to make rules for my house or me.”
Nobody wants to invite people they don’t want to their party. But a teacher had gone out of her way to convince – or rather force – a parent to hold a pity party for the whole class when his six-year-old son only wanted to invite seven people for his birthday.
Obviously, he said no, but she insisted that he does it anyway despite the multiple reasonings he’s mentioned to deny the request. Everything was ignored until he inevitably lost his cool and cussed out, which got the message across.
But his wife had told him he could’ve left out the curse word while, on the other hand, others said that it was warranted considering her behavior.
And he’s now wondering if that was indeed wrong of him as he shared the story under an alias to gain insights.
Additional info: the family invited roughly nine people to the event, and dad had the kid hand out envelopes to students he had no contact info on to get them to contact him about the event.
He also planned to set up play dates with these parents since his kid was enthusiastic about inviting them to his party.
Several people have found this point of discussion rather interesting, with almost unanimous votes for the dad being NTA (Not the As***le). However, some had rather questioned whether the cussing was necessary with completely different takes from all sides.
Some considered it very unnecessary because the teacher’s goodwill might have been to keep every kid from being ostracized. While they gave the parents the benefit of the doubt, they also highly believed that the kid might have handed out the invitations in class which stirred up the rumors.
But others do not see the point of having to be on the phone for so long trying to convince someone that no means no. One even commented, “The gall of this woman is laughable, and her thought process simply defies logic.”
Another pointed out, “Unless she’s paying for the party, she has ZERO say.”
Many suggested that he escalates the event to her higher-ups because it was quite the ridiculous rule from her.
He later added that the principal called him after the disagreement with the teacher. He dubbed the man Mr. Murphy and asked him regarding the classroom rule, which the latter acknowledged that teachers are allowed to make them.
He then asked the man, “Mr. Murphy, if my union tells me ‘Electrician’s local 238 says I’m allowed to say who gets invited to Principal Murphy’s Christmas dinner’ do I get to tell you–a non-incarcerated, fully functional adult, who you can and can’t invite into your own home simply because my job tells me I can?'”
Mr. Murphy did not have an answer back for him, and he proceeded to receive praises for giving such an easy analogy for the principal.
