Dad Bodyblocks Bull Charge For Son At A Rodeo In A Viral Clip
“Not everyone would have gone in there.”
Dads are everyone’s first hero, but for Cody Hooks, his dad was still a hero even 18 years old. It definitely was not the first time the teen had fallen while doing steer wrestling, but Cody witnessed his dad’s heroism while he was unconscious on the ground.

Cody’s dad, Landis Hooks, was watching him at the rodeo when the boy fell off his bull right after they entered the field at the Bell County Rodeo in Belton.

Seeing that his son was unconscious, Landis made his way to the field and immediately body blocked for the bull’s charge towards his son after dodging the bullfighters.

Sharing about the incident on his social media, Cody wrote, “Not one to post falling off, but big thanks to my dad @hooks.landis and the bullfighters last night in Belton, Tx. Could’ve been a hella lot worse. #blessed”
Tina Butler from the Bell County Rodeo explained that Twizler, the bull, didn’t actually stab anyone with its horns, but he did push the dad and his son on the ground. Still, Tina’s breath was taken away.
“Both of them walked away with just scratches. Because of the potential danger, it was the perfect scenario of no one got hurt,” said the woman. Most players and their family members understand the risks of rodeo, but this was still such a rare sight.
“That’s not something you’re going to see every day. Not everyone would have gone in there.”

A comment from a viewer sums up his heroism: A father willing to lay down his life for his son!
