Cop Who Gave Lap Dance At Party Tearfully Reveals She Has Not Returned To Work

After making headlines with her viral clip, she’s apologized to the couple.

Vera Mekuli was just a rookie at the NYPD, but the 26-year-old had made headlines when a video of her giving one of the lieutenants lap dance went viral. It was later discovered the lieutenant was married and the clip taken from the holiday party.

The social media judgment has been strong as Vera remains to work from home, avoiding the public’s eyes.

She has since issued an apology to Melissa McGarry for her inappropriate act at Rory Dolan’s bar in Yonkers.

She shared the video to TMZ and said, “I want to apologize to the lieutenant’s wife, you know, I am sorry, truly I am.”

“I hope it didn’t cause too much damage in the marriage or in your personal life. I know it’s been rough. It wasn’t meant to be like this, I really had no knowledge of your marriage.”

Denying any prior knowledge about the man’s marital status, Vera explained everything was meant for “giggles” after they were having drinks.

She continued, “There’s a lot of judgment and shame that shouldn’t be there, even though there’s a lot of support.”

“My work me, my work self, and the off duty are two different people. I can still patrol and police the streets like I used to and the way anyone can. I feel like I shouldn’t be judged or anything of that sort because of a lap dance off duty, not in uniform.”

Vera was worried that people would recognize her while she’s doing her patrol as “the girl … she gave the lap dance.”

The criticisms she’s been receiving were also unfounded, as she saw them as an act of misogyny, whereas if a man had done it, “it would have been more of a joking matter and remained in-house.”

As the clip becomes viral, Nick McGarry and his family are moving to Transit District 12 in the Bronx.

A source hit on both of them for messing around, regardless of whether they were on the clock or not. They told New York Post that the 44th precinct commander “knows he f–ked up.”

“Messing with your subordinate is a no-no on the job.”

He added, “[The rookie cop] doesn’t know any better because she just came on the job. I can’t even tell you how many times they tell incoming supervisors that. It sets a bad precedent.”

The rookie’s father is now looking into suing them as her daughter has been “crying” over the issue.

“Daddy, I made some mistake. I’m very embarrassed about what I did. I embarrassed you and my family,” the dad claimed her daughter had told him. “She cried and cried. She is young. She doesn’t know how but he is married, the lieutenant. He should know better.”
