Bride Hugs Her Ex-Boyfriend One Last Time, And It Left Groom ‘Smiles in Pain’

A marriage is a vow that you will love only your partner for life until death does you apart. In light of this fact, an Indonesian bride dressed in white asked for his groom’s permission for ‘one last hug’ with her ex.

The video was shared on the bride’s TikTok who was replying to a comment that reads, “I’m so mad at this woman.”

The TikTok user shared this video where the ex walked up the stage to congratulate the bride, a common custom often observed in Indonesian’s wedding ceremonies. As the ex offered for a handshake, the bride turned away and could be seen mouthing, “Can I get a hug for just this one time?”

It’s worth pointing out here that Indonesia’s Asian culture does not respect skinship among the opposite sex, especially if you’re already in a relationship. Even some families are not used to hugging amongst themselves mainly because it just feels too weird.

The groom visibly agreed to the bride’s plea, albeit looking a little hurt. She went in for the hug, which the ex carefully accepts as he stole a couple of careful glances at the groom.

The bride captioned the TikTok video, “Well, everyone is entitled to their own opinions.” He shook his head a little when they hug.

One last hug wouldn’t hurt, right?

Afterward, he proceeded to wish the groom happiness and gratitude to have been invited to the wedding. We will never know if the groom may have whispered life-threatening messages here. Jokes aside, the couple still looked happy as they continue to receive congratulatory messages from others.

In a different TikTok video, the bride replied, “I wouldn’t be getting married here if I hadn’t moved on, dude.”

One user commented, “A good wife knows how to appreciate her husband. I’m sure even though he let her hugged him, he was definitely hurt from that.”

Another wrote, “As a woman, I can feel the pain from this. Can’t imagine how he felt.”

One wrote, “‘Can I get a hug for just this one time?’ Omg, they’ve just be announced husband and wife and she’s here asking for a hug from her ex. In the middle of the wedding?!”

One pointed out, “Just want to remind you not to get mad at him when he gives another woman a hug.”

However, a man defended the woman, “If I’m the husband, I wouldn’t really care as long as she asked for my permission. The guy also carried himself respectfully around us.”
