Boy, 16, Goes Viral After Wearing Bright Red Skirt And Sequined Tuxedo Jacket To Prom
Stunning, norm-breaking, show-stopping!
Not many things can compare to watching your little one feel like on top of the world as they wear their dream dress for the prom. Korben’s mom was one of them who couldn’t help herself but show off her awesome 16-year-old son wearing what could be the night’s best look!
The bespectacled boy’s mother, Nina Green, gave her boy the world’s attention as he wore a red gown and was on fire for the night.
“At age 12, my son announced he wanted to go to his school prom in a gown. Four years later we made it happen,” wrote the mom.
“I’m so incredibly proud of him for being true to himself and the reception he got from his whole school was incredible.”
And she tagged RuPaul’s Drag Race judge Michelle Visage with pictures of Korben striking his best pose and showing off his angles. Korben wore a red sequin suit with a dramatic red bow tie on top of a white shirt. But Korben wanted a gown, so he got a ballgown to pair with the suit!
He completed his look with a tiara on his pixie-cut hair. Oh, and he did not forget his matching red & gold clutch, no!
The bold look has made Twitter fall in love with the boy’s infectious smile.
And it even got Michelle Visage’s attention who totally approved of his look!
The dress was designed and made by Korben’s friend, Kirk Willis. It was inspired by Billy Porter’s iconic Met Gala tuxedo dress on the red carpet of the 91st Academy Awards in 2019. Korben spoke with a local news outlet Norwich Evening News, “Kirk brought my vision to life – it was exactly what I wanted.”
Some users took this opportunity to point out just how different things have been. Children like Korben can now just be children with their own personalities and not have to be bullied for not conforming to the social expectations that are tied to their gender.
