Often told they haven’t just met the right person.

Like any sexual orientation, asexuality does exist, and individual experiences vary from person to person. However, some people identify as both asexual and as aromantic, yet the two don’t necessarily go hand in hand.  Young people are coming out, identifying as asexual while revealing what it’s like to have zero attraction to others. This set of people also speak up about negative reactions, including being told they just haven’t met the right person.

Nonetheless, during a video marking asexual awareness week, more young people publicly spoke about how they first knew they were asexual. “Even though I am a very tactile person, I was never interested in sex and didn’t understand that was something people wanted. Not experiencing the wanting of that kind of intimacy or feeling a connection like that is one of the biggest signs you might be asexual.” The community stated.
