Minnie is Nick’s rescue cat, which he adopted 5 years ago from Baltimore. It was at the shelter where Nick volunteered for. Minnie was a stray that has been neutered and has a clipped ear to signify her being part of the TNR program. But this wasn’t Nick’s first experience taking care of a cat.

Hilariously, Nick’s dad was one of those ‘I don’t like cats’ parents who later spoil them the most. Nick’s first cat, Binx, now lives with his dad, who spoils him so much. He moved out into an apartment and left Binx in his parents’ care. Nick, who’s now married, has also adopted a boxer dog named Dany. You can see Dany in some of Nick’s comics, too!

Did you know that there are more than 3.2 million cats that enter the shelter every year? According to ASPCA, more than 860,000 cats out of those have to be euthanized. Only 90,000 of them return to their owners, with 1.6 million of them adopted.
“Feral cats live short, hard lives on the streets. They never die of ‘old age,'” PETA explains. “Minor cuts or puncture wounds can turn into raging infections and abscesses. Others die from blood loss or anemia because of worms, fleas, and untreated injuries.”
