After Whatsapp, Instagram Next To Adapt Disappearing Text Messages From Snapchat
Now you can send disappearing messages whichever platform you’re on.
Previously, Whatsapp has confirmed implementing the new feature on their app that allows for chats to be automatically erased after a certain amount of time. This time, Instagram has tested the feature and revealed a prototype of it.
This is one of Snapchat’s favorite features to use and previously existed in other messaging apps namely LINE. But the feature ‘hidden chat’ was removed when LINE adapted sealing encryption, only to be revived back on Snapchat.
Instagram already has a disappearing picture upload that allows senders to decide if the pictures can only be viewed once, repeated or kept in chat permanently. This time, the feature works in a more secretive way in that the messages will disappear the moment you back out from the chatroom.
Snapchat has been able to keep up with other giant messaging apps thanks to its smooth ephemeral messaging feature. Hints of similar features to be implemented in a number of other apps have existed for a while, but none has been rolled out officially with Facebook scraping theirs.
