Hilarie Burton Called Candace Cameron Bure A ‘Bigot’ Following Her Comment About ‘Traditional Marriage’

Hilarie Burton called out on Candace Cameron Blue’s comment she made after leaving Hallmark Channel. Candace had shared earlier this year that she was leaving for the Great America Family channel, a Christian-oriented channel.
But her co-star Hilarie could not accept the reason she revealed to the public why she decided to leave Hallmark.
Candace recently spoke with WSJ that she “wants to put Christianity back in Christmas movies.” She reasoned that Hallmark is now “a completely different network than when I started because of the change of leadership.”
Bill Abbott, the previous Hallmark Media CEO, stepped down in 2020 after it was revealed that he rejected ads featuring same-sex couples.
Hallmark has been featuring diversity in their shows, with “The Holiday Sitter” featuring the first LGBTQ lead couple in a movie by them. Jonathan Bennett and George Krissa will be starring as Sam and Jason in the romantic comedy series, airing on December 11th.
However, CEO Candace and Bill have confirmed that LGBTQ couples won’t be their “focus.”
Candace spoke with the Wall Street Journal, “I knew that the people behind Great American Family were Christians that love the Lord and wanted to promote faith programming and good family entertainment.”
She added that in order to not be “off-putting to the unbeliever,” there won’t be many same-sex couples shown in the programs. They will “keep traditional marriage at the core” of their shows and added that they were “aware of the trends.”
The comments did not sit well with former co-star Hilarie Burton who left Hallmark during the 2019 controversies. She called Candace a “bigot” and “disgusting.”
“Being LGBTQ isn’t a ‘trend.’ That guy and his network are disgusting. You too Candy. There is nothing untraditional about same-sex couples,” she raged tweeted.
Candace hasn’t replied to Hilarie’s tweet.
