Mom Puts Tinfoil On Dinner Table To Avoid Using The Dishwasher

Apart from doing the laundry, the one chore some people also try to avoid is washing the dishes. Mom-of-two Rebecca Cubberly is quite reluctant to turn on the dishwasher due to soaring household bills but has discovered a life hack that saves her half an hour of cleaning.

She was thinking of a way to treat her kids during the half term without breaking the bank when she came up with the idea.

Using no plates or cutlery but tin foil across her entire dining table, the 28-Year-Old serves her family of four without clearing up. “They ate every last bit; there was nothing left, so I just had to pick up the tin foil. You can take your kids out for half term to a restaurant, and it would cost £50, and this cost me a fiver.” 

Cubberly, as seen, laid down five strips of tin foil before piling on mince, vegetables, nachos, cheese, and wraps for her brood to gather around and help themselves. 

Over lockdown, when we couldn’t get to McDonald’s, I made my wrapping, and we called it Mum’s McDonald’s, and we did the same with KFC, so now we call it Mum’s Friend Chicken. I do anything I can to make tea time more inclusive. It’s such a vital part of the day, we all talk our days, and it’s time to sit down as a family,” Cubberly added. 

The Shropshire-based typically has five bowls and a frying pan to wash, cooked the mince in an air fryer, and the family ate with their hands. 

“We like picky meals and this way is more fun and the clean up afterwards was great. I had a knife and a chopping board to clean. I normally spend about half an hour cleaning up after a meal like that and it’s a long time to spend cooking and cleaning after a long day,” Rebecca stated, revealing that her children loved the tin foil so much that she FaceTime her mother to see their reactions.

“We’ll 100 per cent be doing it again,” the mom insisted.

She continued: “We’ll be trying it with lots of different things like pizza and ploughman’s or when we have a picky tea or when I’m just not in the mood to wash up.” Rebecca shared photos of the hack online, but a few argued it was a waste of tin foil and could damage the environment. In response, she admitted to recycling the foil and saving water because she didn’t have to use the dishwasher. 

Most people commented it was a clever idea and a brilliant way to avoid washing up. 

In response to the comment: “No dishes, but it’ll sit in a landfill for up to 400 years,” Rebecca told DailyMail, “I see where they’re coming from, but I popped the foil in the recycling. Everything has packaging but I didn’t buy a taco kit so there was no waste from that. I got minced beef which I split to make another meal with. I bought wraps which have packaging but there were enough wraps for lunch for my children and everything has packaging.”

But she had written in the comment, “I’m sure my carbon footprint isn’t going to go through the roof for serving a fun tea for my kids.”
